Life on his ranch could be their future. If they can overcome their past.

Felicity’s life story reads like the script to a bad soap opera. Girl’s high-school boyfriend becomes a drug addict. Girl falls for boyfriend’s best friend. Girl leaves them both behind only to return home years later for murdered ex-boyfriend’s funeral. Now she’s back home in Montana, ready to start fresh. She’s got a long list of amends to make and relationships to rebuild, including one with the man who has owned her heart for sixteen years.

Silas doesn’t need much. He’s got a great horse, close friends and the Lucky Heart ranch, but something has always been missing. He’s not an idiot. He knows the missing piece is Felicity. And now that she’s returned to Prescott, he’s got a second chance to win her heart. This time, the only thing standing in his way is history. Drudging up the past is going to be about as painful as playing tug of war with barbed wire. But if they can heal old wounds, he’ll get the girl he should have had all along.

Felicity Cleary has come home to Prescott, Montana after living in Seattle for sixteen years. She's only been home a handful of times in the past two years and had avoided it all the years before that. But when she does come home she seems to always have a hot hook-up with Silas Grant.

These two have history and some of it is not pleasant. There were betrayals, misunderstandings, and broken hearts that sent them both running in opposite directions and their story is all wrapped up in loss, guilt, regret, pain, and even some anger.

But Felicity is home for good to make amends and reconnect with those she left. She is trying to shed her snarky attitude and protective shields. She wants to get to know Silas again. And he knows that this might finally be his chance to have the girl he has always wanted but never truly belonged to him.

Felicity is feisty, stubborn, and sarcastic, but is also vulnerable and insecure. She carries so much guilt and regret. Silas is charismatic, steady, protective, caring, and patient. But he also internalizes things and has a reactive temper. He was always there for her during hard times until she left and took his heart with her.

Silas spent ten years in the military but has been home working on his family's ranch. Now that Felicity is back he is determined to make her his. He will go as slow as he needs to in order to deal with their issues and win her heart.

This is a SLOW burn story taking them from hurt feelings to hook-ups to friends to more. I did like that it was not one of those insta-love books where she blows back in town and a week later they are engaged. This was really over sixteen years in the making,  and months in the present course of the story we were privy too, not counting the epilogue. So the timeline was realistic, but the sexual tension was quite obvious. They had some misconceptions and fears that slowed them down. And they already knew they had sexual chemistry so this was a building of a more emotional attachment.

I enjoyed getting both of their points of view especially since they were afraid to voice their true feelings for awhile. They both had some internal struggles and fears, and did not always see things clearly. And there were external issues as well. Both were stubborn and fearful, and waiting for the other to take the leap first because they needed to know that it was real. And I could not wait for them to finally get it all out in the open.

It brings back Felicity's brother Jess and Gigi (The Coppersmith Farmhouse), Nick and Emmeline (The Clover Chapel), Maisy, Beau, Michael, Milo, and the various kids. It also introduces some new characters Paxon, Sabrina, and Khloe that I think we will be seeing more of as well. I love how she has created this realistic feeling town and community, and she really delves into all of the characters and gives them interesting back stories and issues. There were layers of misconceptions in their past and understanding and healing that needed to occur. There were also multiple stories occurring in this book with a lot going on. And like in the other in the series, there is some danger, drama, and suspense going on as well, some of which is going to bleed into the next book, The Outpost. I can't wait to see how that story continues.

This series is addictive, and I think Silas and Felicity are my fave couple. This was an engaging, complex, emotional, swoony second-chance love story. I am surprised Felicity won me over so easily because I was sure I was not going to like her after reading the last book. She had a tendency to avoid and run, but at least she was trying to make up for her mistakes and drop her walls. Silas was such a totally swoonworthy hero with a big, loving, patient heart, but was also all man with his own faults. But I loved them together and enjoyed their long journey towards love, hope, forgiveness, healing, and happiness.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Felicity left town right after high school, leaving everything she had ever known behind. Caught in drama with her ex-boyfriend and his best friend, it is just easier to walk away from small town life than face the gossip and judgement. She avoided returning home as often as she could, but her ex-boyfriend’s funeral prompts her to move back and set down her roots once again.

Silas left town shortly after Felicity, for 10 years in the military. Now that he is back, the conflict with his father over how to run the family ranch has him questioning if his dreams are worth the fight. Now that Felicity is back, he knows this is his chance to try again with her, with the only girl he ever really wanted, his best friend’s ex-girlfriend.

The history between these two was alluded to but a relative mystery prior to this book. Series readers have only heard about how Felicity was in high school -- vocal, brash, a mean-girl. Her absence from town has become something of a legend, and her return has fueled the rumor mill as well. She feels like she has something to prove to the town, that she is back for good and is determined to show everyone that she loves her hometown and isn’t the same girl who left.

Silas is such a perfect hero, with a less that perfect situation. The stressors of running the family ranch are things he has prepared for and dreamed of, but he never dreamed he’d be fighting with his father on top of trying to keep things afloat. But his second chance with Felicity isn’t something he is going to let go either, and he finds himself working even harder to convince her to give him a chance.

The thread of forgiveness that runs through so many of the various storylines connects more characters than just the mains. I loved the addition of Wes’s family to the story, and the role they play in Felicity’s own personal forgiveness.

This book pulled me in just as quickly as the rest of the series has, and the seeds planted for the next book have me itching to get my hands on The Outpost. The basis for The Outpost is developed in the back of Silas and Felicity’s story, and the characters and situation sounds so intriguing!

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This series is a collection of five standalone novels following a group of characters living in the small, fictional town of Prescott, Montana.

Dropping my head, I started for the door, unsure if I was cowering or if I was just staggered
by what I’d unwittingly forced my way into. I felt like a fool. Naïve and reckless. Because I’d
come seeking something I hadn’t understood.
And I’d just stumbled into the awareness that their lives were pieced together precariously.
A tender, loving, imperfect balance.
It would only take one misstep to send everything toppling over.
I reached for the latch when I felt the flurry of intensity rise up behind me, the tension
suffocating, the movement stealing the air from the room.
I spun around, my back plastered to the door as he approached.
Coming closer and closer.
He wasn’t touching me.
But he might as well have been.
He rested a hand on the door above my head, his face dipping toward mine, his words a
breathy grunt at my ear. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing to me, Rynna?”
Lust and confusion trembled through my bones, this man pushing me away and then
drawing me closer.
I thought maybe neither of us could ignore it.
The overpowering attraction.
Because the fever in my veins ignited a fire in my belly.
No words would form on my tongue.
“Tell me, Rynna. What do you want with us?” he murmured, low and rough. “Because I don’t
have anything to offer you, and I won’t let you take anything else from us.”
I attempted to process what he said, what he meant.
But I couldn’t focus. Couldn’t see. Could feel nothing but the heat radiating between us.
Wave after blinding wave.

I gasped a breath, and he inched closer, a single knee wedging between my legs. He set
both hands on the door above my head.
Caging me in.
A desperate sound rumbled through the strength of his chest.
A hand was suddenly on my jaw, thumb under my chin, tipping my face up to meet the
ferocity in his gaze.
Rage and restraint and desire. I couldn’t decipher what was happening. The push and the
pull. The hatred and the need.
I could barely speak. “I . . . I thought maybe you could use a friend.”

Charlotte has spent her twenties adrift, floating from interest to interest, job to job, and guy to guy, searching for a spark but never quite finding it. All she knows is that she won’t discover it working as a waitress at a pies-and-fries joint in Los Angeles or living with her fun but aimless best friend in a tiny apartment in the Arts District.

Then Charlotte collides with Adam, a gorgeous and soulful painter who seems just as lost as she feels. Their instant connection turns into a midnight drink… and a whirlwind night of champagne, Chinese food, and the kind of conversation that only happens in romantic comedies. But the next morning, Adam gives Charlotte the cold shoulder, leaving her confused and hurt—and wondering if the few odd moments between them the night before were red flags in disguise.

Months later, Charlotte hasn’t been able to shake Adam, so she decides to find out what happened the morning after their magical night together. This fateful decision rewrites their wild love story, but what Charlotte doesn’t know yet is that the ending has already been written.

“You’re making love sound tragic,” I said.
“No”—he shook his head—“I wouldn’t want it any other way. Tell me about us. What do we like to do?”
“Paint and sail and eat and drink. Just simple things.” “Don’t forget about sex,” he said.
“Yeah, lots of sex. Before the children were born we
"We were practically naked every second of the day.”
“I like that.”
“When they got older, we’d sneak away for weekends and leave them at my mom’s.”
“What are they like? Our children.”
“Happy. That’s all we wished for. We put our love first and it just spilled over into them and now they’re happy.”
Tears sprang from my eyes and ran down my cheeks. Isn’t that what we all hope for when it comes to our children?
His tone suddenly changed. “That’s beautiful, Char- lotte.” It was like he was waking up from the dream. I didn’t want to go back to reality yet, but I knew these fantasies were just to help Adam get his mind off things.
“I can imagine a long life with you,” he said. “I can imagine what a great wife you’d be."

I pulled my hand out of his. “The story is about you and me.” He didn’t say anything; he just nodded and then continued to stare out the window. I bent and kissed the top of his head again, and whispered, “It’s about us. Don’t take that away from me.”

I went into this book not knowing exactly what to expect and I couldn't put it down.

Charlotte is a young woman who has been lost and going through the motions with a string of jobs and men that just do not fit. She has her best friend Helen by her side, but with everything else she is not really invested and lacks purpose. She comes off as stand offish, scattered, and guarded. She likes safety and tends to wait around for things to happen.

One night an mysterious man comes to their rescue. She and Adam seem to have this instant connection. He is spontaneous, outgoing, and seems to have a zest for life. He apparently has made some big life changes recently, and appears somewhat unfocused and sad at times. But in a rare act of spontaneity, spurred on by Helen, Charlotte spends an Earth shattering night with Adam where she lets down her walls. But the next morning, he seemed different and she felt rejected.

Months later Charlotte finds herself being pursued by a man that has the makings of the perfect boyfriend. Seth is handsome, attentive, interested, charming, and fits right in with her friends and family. But something is still holding her back. And when Charlotte goes looking for it, she has no idea what she is going to find and how her life is going to change.

This story captured me from the beginning. I kept guessing about the mystery surrounding Adam and wondering how everything was going to come together and turn out. It was hard to see which way the story was going to go at times. And parts of it were as heartbreaking as they were beautiful. This is not a typical romance book. This is really Charlotte's journey of self discovery and finding her self worth. She begins directionless, selfish, indecisive, and needy. And she needs to learn how to believe in herself, really live, and not let fear stop her from doing things. But with that being said, there is definitely love and romance, soul mates, and second chances in this story.

There is also humor, pain, heartbreak, loss, hope, healing, and growth. There are a lot of layers to the story and sometimes timing is everything. It shows how people can impact lives in various ways and how connections can cause a domino effect and bring change. I enjoyed the side characters and their dynamic relationships. The witty banter and joy these characters find even in challenging circumstances is fun and inspiring. There are so many good life lessons to get out of this book. It makes you think, but also makes you feel. And in the end love is what is important...for yourself, for family, for friends, and for those that are willing to open up and share their heart.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Charlotte has very little direction in her life. She has a series of failed relationships with subpar partners and dead end jobs. She has no idea what she wants to do, but isn’t entirely pleased with her current direction. A late night run in with a stranger, Adam, changes her entire course, at least until the next morning when the light of day makes things look different. Shortly after her encounter with Adam, she meets Seth and though things are going well with the developing relationship, she can’t forget her perfect night with Adam.

This was one of those stories full of missed connections and what ifs. I loved watching Adam and Charlotte's interactions and the dreams they create together. But I also loved Seth’s quiet determination to have Charlotte see herself as he sees her.

This was one of those books that left me feeling so mixed. I loved so much about it, but there are a couple aspects that left me feeling more than a little unsettled. Parts that even as I read I wondered if I could find enough to balance. I loved so much about this story, but the timing broke my heart. Everything about the timing broke my heart. Adam. Seth. Charlotte. But I also love the way things were put back together after they were broken. The longer I thought about those pieces that had me all mixed up, the more I realized this just fit.

This has the entire range of emotion, as well as a character development that took a woman floating through life with no real aspiration and gave her purpose, direction, and love. I debated for some time about my rating for Wish You Were Here because of this uncertainty, but the longer I thought, the more I realized I needed to rate this one highly simply because it made me think so hard. This was not a book I read and moved on from quickly. Even now, a week after I finished, I am still thinking about how it made me feel, and that’s the mark of a great read.

Review Tour: The Soul Mate: Kendall Ryan

Kendall Ryan

Buy Amazon | iBooks | Nook | Kobo
Release Date August 14, 2017

From New York Times Bestseller Kendall Ryan comes a sexy new stand-alone novel in her Roommates series.

The smoking-hot one-night stand I was never supposed to see again?

Yeah, well, I might be pregnant, and he’s my OB-GYN.

Get ready to fall head over heels madly in love with the hottest OBGYN doctor you have ever met! This full-length standalone contains the most hilariously awkward lady-doctor visit, lots of playful banter and some good ol' fashioned baby-makin'! One-click now for this summer's swooniest read.

Bren spent an amazing night with Mason and heir chemistry and connection was enough to send her running scared. While Mason was shocked and disappointed that she ghosted him and had no way of finding her.

But when he least expects it she shows up on his gynecological exam table for a pregnancy test and there is no place for her to run.

Bren is independent, guarded, and emotionally closed off. She's not looking for love, has commitment and abandonment issues, and is afraid of getting hurt. The whole idea of being pregnant from a one-night-stand has her even more anxious and skittish. Mason is kind, steady, and looking for real love and a future.

A commitment phobe woman + a man looking for his soul mate + a possible baby on the way = a delicate situation.

Mason is tempting, charming, sexy, and hard to resist. He is determined to get the girl, and the baby if there is one. He's just got to catch her first and convince he that it could be good...not terrifying. I adored Mason. He was the ultimate good guy who would do anything for the woman he wants. He was much more open and in tune with his feelings. He made me swoon. Bren was a bit frustrating with her avoidance, but I could also understand where her fears came from. But she did not make anything easy for him. But they had so much sexual tension and chemistry between them. And when she would relax and give in a little,  they were good together.

This was funny, passionate, sweet, heartwarming, and just a bit angsty. They had some challenges to face that were unexpected after a one-nighter. I had a few questions about some of the plot points, but there were some surprises and it was not predictable. There is more to it than I was expecting. It was told in both points of view and I loved getting into their heads. I liked the side characters of his partner, Trent, and her boss, Mandy. I enjoyed the plot of this one and how it progressed. This one is my favorite story of this rom com series.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sometimes a book comes along at just the right time. This was just that sort of book for me.

When her one night stand turns into a possible pregnancy, and her new OB-GYN turns out to be her one night stand, Bren is in for more than she bargained for.

I loved Mason from almost the minute we meet him. He has a way about him that calms Bren even in all the crazy she is feeling. His outlook on the pregnancy, on their connection, and on taking things slowly made him such a fun hero to read.

But Bren has a fear of being left behind and hurt, and isn’t interested in a serious relationship. Mason has a long hill to climb to convince her that he is serious and isn’t going to go away.

There chemistry and connection are quick, but with a possible baby between them, I love how they faced building a relationship independent of a new addition. As the book progressed, their determination to do things because they were truly interested and not because they had a baby on the way made the bond between them that much stronger.

This was such a refreshing read. I sat down to start and read it in nearly one sitting. It was fun, and light, while mixing in a great deal of emotional power. Bren and Mason didn’t have an easy course, but I loved every minute of watching them find their way. Both characters narrate so readers get a good sense of each character’s feelings along the way. I found this book difficult to put down, and am glad I could read it with few interruptions!

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Roommates series can each book can be read as a complete standalone as they all feature new couples to fall in love with.

The last time I saw my best friend’s younger brother, he was a geek wearing braces. But when Cannon shows up to crash in my spare room, I get a swift reality check.

Now twenty-four, he’s broad shouldered and masculine, and so sinfully sexy, I want to climb him like the jungle gyms we used to enjoy. At six-foot-something with lean muscles hiding under his T-shirt, a deep sexy voice, and full lips that pull into a smirk when he studies me, he’s pure temptation.

Fresh out of a messy breakup, he doesn’t want any entanglements. But I can resist, right?

I’m holding strong until the third night of our new arrangement when we get drunk and he confesses his biggest secret of all: he’s cursed when it comes to sex. Apparently he’s a god in bed, and women instantly fall in love with him.

I’m calling bullshit. In fact, I’m going to prove him wrong, and if I rack up a few much-needed orgasms in the process, all the better.

There’s no way I’m going to fall in love with Cannon. But once we start…I realize betting against him may have been the biggest mistake of my life.

Smith Hamilton has it all—he's smart, good-looking and loaded. But he remembers a time when he had nothing and no one, so he's not about to mess up, especially with his best friend’s little sister. That means keeping Evie at arm's length … even though the once pesky little girl is now a buxom bombshell. A sexy blonde who pushes his self-control to the limit the night she crawls into bed with him.

Evie Reed knows she's blessed—with an exclusive education, a family who loves her, and a new job managing social media for her family's lingerie company. But she wants more, like a reason to wear the sexy lingerie herself. She has just the man in mind to help with that. She's crushed on Smith forever. Surely tricking her way into his bed will force him to see her in a new, adult way.

Except that when Evie's plan leads to disaster, she and Smith must decide—ignore the attraction sizzling between them, or become play mates and risk it all.

What’s sexier than a bad boy? A bad ass man who’s got his shit together.

Max Alexander is nearing thirty-five. He’s built a successful company, and he’s conquered the professional world, but he’s never been lucky in love. Focusing so much time on his business and raising his daughter, adulting has come at the expense of his personal life.

His social skills are shit, his patience is shot, and at times, his temper runs hot.

The last thing he has time for is the recently single, too gorgeous for her own good young woman he hires to take care of his little girl. She’s a distraction he doesn’t need, and besides, there’s no way she’d be interested. But you know what they say about assumptions?

I might be a typical guy, but these last few years, my love life’s been anything but. From crazy ex-girlfriends to one night stands who are stage-five clingers, my relationships go bad faster than the milk in your fridge. The only constant has been my best friend Maggie.

Fresh off a bad breakup of her own, I invite Maggie to my guy’s skiing weekend knowing she needs an escape from reality. But then something funny starts to happen. I start noticing things about her that I never noticed before.

She’s beautiful and doesn’t know it, she’s funny without even trying, and now she’s suddenly single for the first time in forever.

Sharing a hotel room with her proves to be the tipping point in our very platonic friendship. Suddenly I want to put my hands, my mouth, and my ... other parts ... all over her gorgeous body. I want to claim her, make sure no man touches her ever again. But then her groveling ex shows up, and Maggie’s torn.

Am I ready to screw up the best relationship I’ve ever had for a shot at something more?
